POPIA Compliance

Bizstar is built for POPIA alignment. We implement consent, opt-out, and auditability features so business users can manage customer communication responsibly.
1. Responsible Party vs Operator
For customer contacts captured and messaged through a business account, the business customer is generally the Responsible Party and Bizstar operates as an Operator. Bizstar processes personal information on behalf of the Responsible Party to provide the platform.
2. Consent and Opt-Out
- Bizstar supports consent tracking per contact.
- Bizstar supports opt-out via STOP and records consent actions in an audit log.
- Where consent is revoked, messaging should stop unless another lawful basis applies.
3. Purpose Limitation and Minimality
Bizstar is designed to collect and process only what is necessary for missed call recovery, messaging, support, billing, and platform operations. Business users should not store unnecessary sensitive personal information in notes or messages.
4. Security Safeguards
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures aimed at preventing loss, damage, unauthorized access, and unlawful processing. We also maintain abuse controls for messaging features (including rate limits and restrictions).
5. Data Subject Rights
POPIA provides data subject rights, including access, correction, deletion, and objection to processing where applicable. Business users can action many of these requests directly within the dashboard.
6. Records and Retention
Bizstar retains conversation history and compliance records to support business operations and demonstrate compliance. Business users can export and delete data using the platform compliance tools. Certain records may be retained for security and legal reasons.
7. Cross-Border Processing
Some service providers used for messaging, payments, infrastructure, or AI features may process data outside South Africa. Bizstar takes reasonable steps to ensure appropriate protections and operator obligations are in place.
