Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 31, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Bizstar (Pty) Ltd (“Bizstar”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, shares, and protects personal information when you use our website and platform.
1. Roles and Responsibilities
For customer contact data processed through a business account (leads, messages, consent records), the business customer is generally the “Responsible Party” and Bizstar acts as an “Operator” (as defined under South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013 (“POPIA”)).
2. Personal Information We Process
- Account information: business name, email, phone numbers, login credentials (stored securely).
- Contact and lead information: customer phone numbers, names (if provided), conversation content, timestamps, pipeline stage, notes, and tags.
- Consent and compliance records: consent status, opt-out (STOP) handling, consent audit events, and consent timestamps.
- Usage and device data: limited technical logs, event tracking, and basic visitor analytics (excluding bots) for security and product improvement.
- Billing data: payment references and subscription status processed via a payment provider.
3. How We Use Personal Information
- Provide the platform features (missed call recovery, messaging workflows, lead management, and reporting).
- Send messages you initiate or configure, and record them for history and compliance.
- Operate account security, fraud prevention, abuse controls, and system monitoring.
- Provide customer support and communicate important service updates.
- Process subscriptions and billing events.
4. Sharing and Sub-Processors
We do not sell personal information. We share personal information only with service providers required to deliver the platform, such as:
- Messaging providers: to send/receive WhatsApp and SMS messages and retrieve delivery status.
- Payment providers: to process subscription payments and handle payment notifications.
- Infrastructure providers: hosting, storage, monitoring, and security services.
- AI providers: when AI Assistant features are enabled by a business account.
5. Cross-Border Transfers
Some service providers may process data outside South Africa. Where cross-border processing occurs, we take reasonable steps to ensure appropriate protections and operator obligations are in place.
6. Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to provide the service, meet legal and operational requirements, resolve disputes, and enforce our terms. Business users can export or delete their data via the dashboard.
7. Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information against loss, unauthorized access, and misuse. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we continuously improve our controls and monitoring.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your relationship to the platform (business account user or a business contact), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, object to processing, or withdraw consent as permitted by POPIA. Business account users can manage contact consent status and opt-out handling within the platform.
